Observations At A Bar

Striking up a conversation with a pretty girl at a bar full of guys is comparable to Alaskan Bisons battling for their territory prior to migration. Every male Bison has fulfilled his hunger for food and drinks before he decides to approach a female. They are polygamous so they are usually seen to "tend" females until allowed to mate, by following them around and chasing away rival males. Some males weigh as much as 300 pounds with a thick fur coat for protection against the harsh winter. Some other males aren't as heavy but they appear to be slick and seem to know their way around the females with perfectly pitched "moos" that hit the spot. The male-male interaction is limited to headbutting and an occasional chase around the area. The females graze the grasslands as though being unaffected by their surroundings but they watch the males from the corner of their eye while chewing on the grass. As soon as a male makes an impression, they stop what they are doing and come over to mooch off of his grass. The male doesn't waste any time in making his intentions clear. The female plays hard-to-get by continuing to chew on grass nonchalantly. The male tries to nudge a few of her friends hoping one of them agrees to enjoy the sun with him but his attempts are a lost cause now. The females move away to greener pastures. The male then tries to knuckle-punch a few of his buddies and hopes they'd let the headbutting slide. But in Bison law, there is no mercy.

The male is left alone to graze the dry lands. It's going to be a long migration for him.

Gradwolf, Its no brainer! He must've got headbutted by one of the male bisons! Hence the last line about the law of no mercy!
Dont we all know how smart our V is! :P

V, this indeed is a good post, and the comparison is so apt. Had I not known u better, I would've thought u were the male Bison protecting the territory! :P

Of course, as most male bisons battle it out for the females, some smarter ones prefer to leave the herd behind and go chase cows who acquiesce more willingly to the requests of the male.:D

Gradwolf,

The post by itself is a hyperbolic recount of an observation that lasted two minutes.

Ms. Taggart,

I have to say you are right in your assessment about me and I'd have gladly agreed with your conclusion if I was involved.

Max,

Yes.

IiTG,

I couldn't agree more. Evidence suggests that cows are more recipient in comparison to their wilder, untamed counterparts.
