Oh, the Places You'll Go!

This is a poem by Dr. Seuss and was recited by Ryan Gosling to Embeth Davidtz in the movie Fracture. Sadly, she is in a coma during the scene and Gosling believes she can still hear her favorite poem.

Now, this might seem as a rude shock but I liked this poem. While I'm being so honest, let me also fill my faithful, interested and an evergrowing number of readers in on a pertinent fact. I'm officially off of NIN. I'm back to my roots - Heavy Metal. Yet, I liked this children's poem.

Here's the piece from the movie:

You can get so confused
that you'll start in to race
down long and wiggled roads at a break-necking pace
and grind on for miles across weirdish wild space,
headed, I fear, toward a most usless place

The Waiting Place...

for people just waiting.

Waiting for a train to go
or a bus to come, or a plane to go
or the mail to come, or the rain to go
or the phone to ring, or the snow to snow
or waiting around for a Yes or a No
or waiting for their hair to grow.

Everyone is just waiting.

Waiting for the fish to bite
or waiting for wind to fly a kite
or waiting around for Friday night
or waiting, perhaps, for their uncle Jake
or a pot to boil, or a Better Break
or a string of pearls, or a pair of pants
or a wig with curls, or Another Chance.

Everyone is just waiting.

Here's the complete poem, if you are interested.

R:

Actually, I'm embarrased I like this poem specially when "Lamb of God - Blacken The Cursed Sun" is playing in my headphones now.

Will check it out.

S:

Tied to a tree outside my home with embers underneath.

Do you have a pack of cards for comments? I see a pattern of repeats.

You can stop crying. I'll try not to hurt your feelings again.

Nonsense verse is always good. I never knew your personality had such depth.
