I've been on a long break. I doubt if there's anybody who reads this space anymore but I thought I'll write again. As for my break, let's just say, certain events led to certain other events that triggered a hint of tears (just a hint!) which led to the deletion of my blog and the accidental deletion of another blog which had six other contributors.
That being said, I don't know where to begin. For starters, my life hasn't changed much. My Happy Hora list has expanded beyond manageability. Sometimes, I receive emails from unknown people at work asking me if they could go too.
At one meeting, one of the project managers was introducing the crew to the business area. He walked around the table, giving a brief introduction about the people involved and how vital they are to the project. Finally, he looked at me and with undeniable confidence, he said "This is V, he gets his mail at the local bar". I agree I'm a workaholic but was there a need to tell people how hardworking I am? Needless to say, I attracted attention from the business area. My expressionless face made them wonder if I was making an attempt to mask my anger. There was a moment of absolute silence. They were expecting a response. I gave everybody a quick glance, cracked a half smile and realized I had to retort. I could feel blood rush to my head, pinkish hue (Well, who am I kidding? I think it looked more like dark chocolate) began to appear on my cheeks. Embarrassment was making its presence known in the form of big red ears. Thankfully, I didn't stutter in my speech when I came up with a meagre response - "Well, I switched to FedEx, I don't trust the US Post Office."*
To my not-so-pleasant surprise, it invoked laughter from everyone except the project manager.
*For the uninitated, I work at FedEx.

Ah ,that's a terrific come back. Did the project manager take it offline? :p
Adi: I'm not sure about the comeback because he dumped a couple of more unexpected tasks on me.
And thanks for commenting!
that was indeed a neat comeback instead of a sheepish grin!
I noticed your place of wrk frm teh IP, and this post confirms it...
I think I hit a raw nerve with that comment.
good comment
I must say - although u do have an annoying habit of pissing women off -
this post confirms that u can offer a good come back line at work with a male boss as well
L: I cut him some slack. If it were a female project manager, she would have resigned.
(Do I hear sexist?)
haha - I am not being a sexist
it's curiosity - either to know how your brain works or to understand how Indian employees are treated in the United States
Well, I got answers to ease your curiosity about my thought process. Feel free to ask.
But I'm not sure I can speak for other Indian employees.
By the way, you assumed I am Indian. (Did I get you again?)
It wasn't really an assumption... it was quite obvious ...
LOL, what gave it away?
umm.. curiosity !
Well mister, that's for me to know and for you to figure out.
Touche.
